Life with Lucy

Life without Lucy seems so long ago, and a little hazy. Life with Lucy is a gift from God and I'm so thankful for the bundle of joy she is in our lives. A normal day with Lucy looks like this:

wake up when Lucy wakes up (around 7am normally) and feed her, burp her, change her, play with her, set her under her play gym until she gets fussy, then rock her for a couple minutes singing the Birds upon the Treetop and Jesus Loves Me, then lay her down. This repeats every 3 hours throughout the day, except from 2-6 I go to work and Scott feeds her, burps her, changes her, plays with her, and puts her to sleep. Every other night she gets

a bath and she loves those. She almost always needs a bath due to sp

it up all in her hair etc.

She really is a good baby I realize. She's been sleeping through the night since 8/9 weeks and she sleeps a lot during the day giving me time to get things done or catch up on my sleep. She also stays content playing on her own under her play gym and doesn't have to be held all the time. Yes, she spits up on everything and everybody all the time, but you get used to that. ry good. She isn't picky about who's holding her. The only time it's ha

rd is when her routine is thrown off by church or going out a lot. THen she doesn't know if she's hungry or tired. So the routine has worked best for me - that is eat/wak

e/sleep routine from BabyWise.

We've done cloth diapers since she was 2 weeks, and we love them. I would encourage anybody to use cloth for more than one reason. I thought I was just doing them to save money (which I save a lot of money) but I also like using them because I rarely have a blowout and they don't have any dioxins or chemicals. Plus they are so cute!! I don't mind that she has a big diaper butt. I think they're adorable on her. So if anyone wants more info on cloth diapers I'd love to answer any questions. Oh, and they make cloth diapering so easy these days compared to when we were babies. It's not what you think. :)

Anyway, I count myself blessed to be a mommy and thank God for the opportunity though it's a great responsibility. I've wanted to be a mommy every since I can remember. My mom told me I used to be content playing house with dolls in my room all day by myself. Though my desire is/was to be a stay at home mommy, I am working part time right now. Though it's a struggle sometimes, God's showing me his grace in my life. God know our days, even when they were yet to be.

I'm so thankful to be able to pass down the truths of Scripture to my children. There's nothing so valuable to be able to pass down than the Word of God and His Love. I'm trying to view the small moments of my life as important moments because each little moment makes up our lives. Each day is a teaching day to Lucy of the way to live and the way to be. What a tremendous responsibility I feel.

Titus 2 says "teach the older women to be reverent in the way they life, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God."

what i've been working on

So this is what I've been working on using my brand new sewing machine and table. :) It took a lot of time to figure out, but that means the second time will be much easier right?

new sewing machine and table

here is my new sewing machine and sewing table. I love it!! That it was a great deal from Walmart is a plus. It's very functional as you can see it looks nice when it's all closed up. It's also functional because it has wheels and can be easily moved.

check out the inside. I can store the sewing machine on the shelf inside.

it has some nice shelves for fabric etc.

these nice compartments are great for storing different tools and supplies.

And it gets better. See the extra table space I can pull up to use. Like I said it's very functional and convenient. It's way better than I expected! Now, I just have to work on sewing.

glistening snowflakes

My friend Casey showed me these patterns for snowflakes on the Michael's website. You can click here for the patterns. There are 3 sizes I did. I found this sparkly white and red yarn at Michael's on sale for 2 for $3. It was a great deal. And I still have plenty left to use.

After I crocheted them I ironed them with a paper towel on top to get them to lay right.
Then I starched them by dipping them into 3/4 starch and 1/4 water. Then I let them dry on wax paper or paper towels.

And now I have some ornaments for Christmas! They make great gifts!

80 cent purse

this is my 80 cent purse that can be whipped together in an hour or two. I bought the bright red yarn from Unique Thrift store for 80 cents and I already had the brown yarn that my grandmother gave to me. So, it was the cheap way to go!

it's super easy especially since it involves no seams (seamless purse). I didn't really have much of a pattern to go off of, although I kind of went off of this website. It's mostly half double crochet in circles.

i thought about crocheting a cute red flower or heart for the brown part, but Scott thought it would be cheezy. I think he's right.

it's a pretty big purse, or you could call it a bag.

granny square bag

I have a really cute book which is pictured below (sorry about the name :)), but it has so many cute projects to crochet. I found it at the half price bookstore. And I got this pattern for a granny square purse from it. It's definitely a detail oriented purse, but it was fun to finally finish it.

Below I also have some pictures of the process. I used the slip buckles of an old belt I never wear and I used all yarn I already had. So it was a pretty cheap purse. :)

mittens, pompoms, and beads

website shows how to do the pompom but I learned
how to do it from a magazine. I just used my fingers
instead of buying a pompom maker
at a craft store.

i started this blanket maybe 6 months ago. i got the idea from a blanket i saw on the IKEA website. below i added a picture of what it looks like on IKEA. obviously i couldn't find the exact colors at walmart and this is an angled picture so all the stripes are actually the same size.
